the M1943 fatigue jacket: originally a working and training uniform, these fatigues soon became the standard combat uniform of the tropics. The jacket is made of cotton herringbone twill, the large pockets were originally designed to carry a ration pack. This jacket also has a "gas flap" to protect the wearer during a gas attack. M 1917A1 helmet with netting the M1A2 mask with a one-size stockinet-covered rubber face mask with a seam at the chin. The universal size fit about 95% of soldiers; M1A1 largest and smallest sizes continued to be used for those who could not fit the M1A2 mask. Although rooted in the designs of WW I, the M1 series masks (M1, M1A1, M1A2) served until 1944, late in World War II. By 1937, Edgewood Arsenal was producing over 50,000 M1A2 masks per year, but all three variants were in use until declared obsolete in 1944.

Cool. Is that on permanent display in your place? How do you deal with dust? I'm thinking of setting up a "museum" corner in my house but don't know how to deal with the dust and summer bugs or moths that might get in the house.

yes, this is in my house I change my display regularly and keep my windows closed to keep out dust, here is another photo with the gas mask stowed away in the carry bag and with my M1903A3 rifle. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The U.S. Model 1903 Springfield Rifle replaced the Krag-Jorgensen and was the primary U.S. battle rifle until 1936, when it was replace as the primary battle U.S. battle rifle by the M1 Garand. In 1942 Remington Arms redesigned the 1903 rifle using some stamped parts and designated it the U.S. Model 1903A3. The 1903A3 was manufactured by both Remington as well as Smith-Corona. The sniper variant based upon the 1903A3 design, the 1903A4, was used during WWII, the Korean War, and in the very early stages of Vietnam.

Nice display, hope to see more. You should get into doing some USAFFE PS reenacting events here in California with us. Philip
