Hello I'm new here, I've been researching for my own pleasure and for a game I'm running for my friends. Its been really hard for me to find out what rifle the spanish army was using at around 1865. Ive checked out the wars of that time but I can't find any mention of their arms. Does anyone here know what it could be? My closest guess would be that they haven't changed from the Baker Rifle.

Hello! The basic Spanish Infantry weapon of the period was the Fusil Rayado Modelo 1859, a muzzle loading rifled musket. This was essentially a copy of the British Enfield. The Spanish began to convert these to a trap door type breech loader in 1867. I'll see if I can locate a photo and post it soon. I hope this helps. ¡Viva España! Bill
