Sharing our friend Karl's on some recent posts about Corregidor. Thanks Karl for emailing this, I haven't had much time to visit the Corregidor forum. ---------- Friends This time I’m sharing the work of a Corregidor friend (Canadian John aka fots2). He recently done a great (super) photo essay on the history of the Malinta Tunnel on Corregidor Island.
The Corregidor Tunnel was the Head Quarter of General MacArthur in the defense of the Philippines. When it fell on the 6th May 1942, Gen. Wainwright was forced to surrender all of the Philippines and a tragic chapter for the Philippines and the United States started here on that day here in that tunnel.
Here is the URL: corregidor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=threads&action=display&thread=1357
He also included another link from the corregidor.org web pages. It was written by the Army engineer who started the initial tunnel work. It is three pages long and he done a fine job of writing and it is humorous!
