Another "Forgotten Hero" only remembered from a war movie as a Guerrilla fighter. But was one of two Guerrilla Commanders ( Jocson) who were instrumental and played key role in helping save the American Prisoners in Cabanatuan rescue. Without their expertise & support that rescue who not have been considered the greatest rescue mission in the history of WWII. Capt. Pajota was from the 45th IR PS and was assigned to the 91st Div PA. His fellow 400 comrades of the 91st was the Div. that were brutally massacre by bayonet and sword at the Pantingan river. Capt. Pajota died of a Heart attack in the US and after his death was denied approval of becoming a US Citizen. I thank Emily Jean Morris who's father was also attached to the 91st Div. but survived the war, for most of this information.

Thanks for posting. I think Emily is in touch with Juan Pajota's family. She said one day while in the Philippines she just looked them up in a phone book and called not knowing if it was the Pajota family that she was contacting. It turned out the guy who answered the phone was the grandson. Amazing.

I did talk to those folks that Emily gave me the phone number she got in the phone book , and it turns out they are a very far distant relative. I ask them how and where I could reach the reach any relatives or next of kin of Pajota and they knew nothing. Unfortunately and frustratingly it was a false lead.

Arnold, is it okay if Emily Jean Morris gets in touch with you? She's been trying to contact anyone from your family. Her dad was saved by Juan Pajota.

Juan Pajota stayed at our house in Modesto, California for a few days before he left for Chicago. I vaguely remember he had a draft of the book that was eventually published. I suspect it was in the mid 70's that he stayed at our house. My father Pedro Pajota Holanda was a "relative". However; I'm not sure of the linkage or connection beside the fact that my father's middle name was "Pajota". Can anyone explain the linkage. My father who died in 1975 was retired from the U.S. Army as a Warrant Officer. He orginally was in the Phillipine Scouts before transitioning to the U.S. Army. What year I do not know.
I would appreciate anyone explaining the family connection... if there is one.
PS: My mother's name was Maxima Abando Holanda

HI My name is Harri Reyes Son of Danilo Reyes of which is the nephew of Captain Juan Pajota. My Father calls him Tio Juan. My father was originally from Gapan Nueva Ecija. I was Born in Cabanatuan City where the POW Camp was 30 min from Cabanatuan City. Gapan, from what I understand, was where Captain Pajota has many relatives. We are truly proud of our heritage and what my great uncle has accomplished. I wish that he was still alive so I could shake his hand. We live in Alaska now.
