Our classmate Celso e-mailed the following account:
"Sorpresa! I was able to contact Ms. Joan Page (Spann), the American lady who tried to speak Tagalog in the very funny Edong Mapangarap radio program of our days. Upon my request, she kindly attached a picture of her with Pugo and Tugo, two of her her co-stars in the radio program when we were just starting high school. She came to the Philippines in 1948 and even entertained our 20th Battalion Combat Team in the Korean War. Yes, she still speaks Tagalog. She is already a grandma and will visit the country soon. When Eddie San Jose (from whom Edong was derived) died in California, his girls, with Joan Page, Rebecca Gonzales and Sylvia La Torre (she played Ibyang in the show) sang at his memorial service. Eddie must have loved it tremendously."
