Congradulations of the very 1st "Battle of Bataan" reenactment on Philippine soil. May this be the beginning of great events to commemorate Philippine history specially the greatest generation!!!

I loved the whole day! The taste and smell of cordite once more was great! I played the American officer in command ( Old old bald guy seen at end of film.) We did a little rehearsal of the hand to hand fighting before the battle, and having just a pistol I parried a samurai sword with my helmet used as a buckler shield held in my left hand and pistol whipped my enemy to the ground as the sword blade broke. the sword was a wooden one already in 2 pieces that was broken at the shank of the blade so was held in two hands. it worked very well as a stunt. The spectators loved it and were very impressed by the explosions and " bullets kicking up the ground and off the sandbags. All the electric wiring was hidden from view but scattered cut grass. It was hot work under the sun but then we had a great lunch with lechon, beef, rice etc freely donated by our sponsors, and was down with San Migs. & a handsome measure of 15yr old Chivis Regale as we enjoyed the all singing, all dancing 'Japs' on the stage! Everyone was fired up with enthusiasm and keen for the 2nd re-enactment. Even the Jeeps were double the number seen at our first ever Jamboree that took place there in April. A very good start to build upon!!
