In one of the Military Channel documentary shows where they showed some vets going back to the historic WWII spots in the Philippines, their last stop was the groundbreaking of the Hellship Memorial. Incidentally if anyone has the Military Channel, here is the schedule of its re-runs. Click for Schedule

I was there that day, it was very moving. I presented the British Memorial Day poem, or whatever it is, ie: "They shall not grow old, as we who are left grow old/Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn...". There quite a few tears and several people asked me for copies afterwards.\ The VFW guys did a nice ritual (Two bells?). Sadly, the old hellships survivor with the white beard and two sticks died the very night he returned to the US. FWIW, I narrated and r-edited the fund-raising video (I'm quite proud of the mixI did on the US and British versions of 'Taps'). There's stuill work to be done on the memorial.
