I want to have made a cloth hanging neck cloth to shield my neck from the sun when wearing my standard issue visored British officers hat. How were they fitted to the rear of the hat? In "Bridge over the river Kwai" Alec Guinness wore one, and I remember seeing some in a film about the Trubruk battle in N. Africa. Can anyone Advise me?

Hi, There were no official issue flaps, called Havelocks, in the British Army during WW2, although there were during ww1. Officers would just have the a tailor, either private or regimental, make one for them and just stitch it to the cap.
