Hi everyone, I just finished Bumitalag: Miracles of war. I personally bought the book because the author briefly interacted with two American Signal Corps enlisted men who joined their guerrillas unit, one of whom I am currently researching. However, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The book is primarily drawn from the diary of Aurora Lopez Ver. She was the wife of Captain Felino Sacro, a Philippine Army officer and later a member of the Ablan-Madamba Guerrilla Unit operating in and around Ilocos Norte during WWII. It details the family's struggle with the war situation and the continuous hunt for her husband by the Japanese. She made many sacrifices to keep her children safe as well. Even as they hid in the mountains, they quickly found out that nowhere was safe. Although Aurora and the children came through physically unscathed, she tells a story full of courage, despair, fear, caution, and heroism in a time of real uncertainty.

Looks good. Is this a Philippine publication? How were you able to get a copy? It's not in Amazon.

I ordered it from The Heritage Art Center in Quezon City via ePay. It was a bit expensive to ship it here to the US, but I think it was well worth it. You can always borrow it if you'd like. Just let me know!

Thanks for the offer. I also got one of my books from them. Shipping hurts.
I may wait till our next trip home to get a copy. I have a long queue of unread books anyway.
