Recently, my mother gave me my grandfather's WWII medals. She never knew him - according to her cousin, who gave her the medals in 2004, he died either during the Battle of Bataan or the Death March that followed. My mom was only 2 at the time and her mother died a few years later. I learned of all of this this past mother's day when she gave me the medals. I've been very anxious to find out more about him however the research is going slow. I only have his name and the medals. I've looked in the National Archives and found nothing. here is a picture of the medals: I'm wondering what, if any, other resources I could use to try and 'find' him - short of getting on a plane to the Philippines and doing research there. of the above picture the 'Presidential Unit citation' - top row to the right - upon research of that, I can guess that he was part of the 26th Cavalry/Philippine Scouts. I have no idea what the two items on the far right stand for. anyway - any help would be appreciated. I'm basically just looking for a place to start looking. Thanks

Thanks VeeVee - I have tried those resources and did a search on his last name - There were 4 soldiers listed and none of them were him unless he used a different name then the one I found on his purple heart.
