Welcome to the forum.
I don't think they were issued those. I think they had summer khakis/chinos, or the denim fatigues.

Hey Vic....I would think, had the troops been issued those type britches, that they would have, in that climate, eaten those guys up. As I understand it, the OD shirts were a blend of cotton and wool which I would think would have been a bit uncomfortable also, but not like 100 percent wool trousers. Correct me on the make up of the OD shirt if I am in error (which I am more often than not) Cheers.

Redbaron, Yes on the M1 garand.
Okla, Yes. It would have been hot to wear although they did wear the wool/flannel olive drab shirt. According to the book Odyssey of a Philippine Scout, they switch over to wearing that shirt in November when it gets cooler overnight out in the field. One of the PS vets at a reunion told me that that was what he wore during the death march and that it got infested by fleas in prison camp.

Hi Redbaron, What's the purpose for the impression? Casual airsoft or living history reenactment? Keep in mind that the common airsoft M1A1 thompson is a wartime model and wasn't what the US Army in Bataan would have had. The 30 round magazine also came out later in the war. The Thompsons they had in Bataan would have had the 20 round short magazines or the round 50 magazine. So the 5-cell long magazine pouch would not have been used in Bataan.
Also, I'm not sure the thompson was a widely issued weapon for PS companies, platoons. They were expensive. One will need to dig up a Table of Organization & Equipment TO&E to verify. I'm not sure myself. They did have thompsons in Bataan, but I wonder if they were mostly special requests or acquisitions for specific missions (eg. sniper hunting). There were plenty of BAR's and all rifle companies/platoons had them.
The rough equipment list for impression we have is sticky'ed in this forum titled: "Philippine Scout Gear (Bataan)" It's only for a rifleman impression though.

Hi Redbaron, I'm not so sure about the GP bag but definitely the gas mask bag would be okay.
As for officers with garands, yes. They most likely had the 1911's but lieutenants and captains were in combat too and had rifles. Even Gen. Wainwright had a garand.

Get the Kelly helmet made by Dragon. The had a US sailor "Mariveles" figure or the marine pacific figures. The chin strap is the correct one . The one you have in the photo is the British chin strap. Hope this helps

Hello RedBaron, I have a British WW2 helmet with the gartered chin-strap (still working after 70 years). The WW1 helmet had a simple leather chinstrap. I believe the garter was introduced so that the helmet could be swiftly removed to allow the soldier to don his gas mask ASAP. The internal leather sweatband and liner of the helmet was replaced with "dressed " canvas and webbing straps by WW2. Where does the name "Kelly Helmet" come from, as in the Uk, it is known as a 'Tommyhat' or 'Tinhat'?
