Nice ones Ray, Finally some pics of Fort Stotsenburg to remember. This was after our Capas, Tarlac memorial event. I remember Sarge handling at least three cameras during the whole photoshoot.
Are these from the wide angle digital cam. As the third one has a big difference in resolution. Any pics from the open parade grounds we did?

You guys sure know how to travel. How much does a horse cost in the Philippines? I'll need one when I go for a photo.

Sweet pics! I forgot to visit those posts on my last visit going to Clark. I read Fort Stotsenburg was initially established for the horses of the US cavalry during the Phil-Am War. It was the only edible safe grass American horses can graze on with out getting sick and dying. If you notice, some of the old pictures from the Phil-Am War have US cavalry men on mules...they were issued native mules because their horse died. I remember reading one account where a cavalry man first hated the mules, but learned to love his mule because they showed they were not lazy(unlike the American counterpart) and would go anywhere with little water and food. His heart sank when he had to return his trusted mule.

Is there anything left of the original buildings?

A few of the officer's quarters homes along this parade ground are still in their original structure. Most of them have been totally renovated and changed. some of the housing barracks around the base are still there. The Stables have been unfortunately demolished one of the few original structures erased.
