Returned during the week to the history museum in Angeles City, where Danny Dizon's splendid pictures are once more hanging on the wall. The museum has been undergoing restoration for months and is now almost finished. The room given over to event of the period of 1896 to 1904 plus, is well done with some extra photos and printed copies of Pampanga's famous generals of the war, a fine diorama of an "Insurrecto" being led to his execution by his Spanish captors. The Yard at the side of the Cathedral (Across the road), was the place of execution by firing squad for all "Rebels". Danny's pictures all all on one wall now, side by side; there being a shortage of space. The main thing is they have been returned. there is also a large framed photo of a Spanish Officer who chose to join the Filipino forces after capture to fight the Americans. Later in his career he was awarded a medal by the Spanish Govt. Which is on display along side. A large star shaped piece. Alas I was without my camera on that trip, but will sort that out shortly. The Museum was the town hall in 1898, and was used by the Japanese officers as their quarters in WW2. Having an old police cell on the ground floor, an American Airforce Col. was held captive there until mid 1945 when he was executed. More details of that later OK. Well worth a visit if in Angeles. Across the road is The City Library where they have a copy of "The American War in The Philippines 1898-1902 by Harpers Magagine Pub. The only other one this side of the ocean is in Manila. % are in the States and one in Holland. Insurrectomad
