There will be a Fun Walk at the Veteran's Bank on Mar 27, 7-8AM & we WWII reenactors are invited to be there to represent the WWII Veterans (of what they look like before)
There will be a meeting on Saturday late afternoon Mar 13 to discuss this.
Just after this event, the same event on the same day at Robinson's Mall Ermita Manila. There will be a Historical / Military Uniform Contest. Also, the purpose is to encourage / recruit new reenactors & promote historical reenactment in the Philippines.
So after we participate in the Veterans, lets al proceed at the Robinson's Mall.

(just transferring all Mar 27 Veteran's Day topic on this thread) Labrador Mentioned in one of the thread :
We've been invited by the Philippine Veterans Bank to lead a walkathon on March 27(only 1.5k) from libingan ng mga bayani to the Philippine Army grandstand. The Veterans Bank Marketing people believe this will be a good venue as it will receive ample coverage from the press and they may even arrange interviews so we can talk about the units we represent and our equipment. So far, the guys here are interested (so far around 5 guys have expressed interest). It will also be an opportunity to get some interest going for possible participation in April. It seems that there will be no chance of getting permission to carry weapons as the gun ban is a comelec and not a dnd thing. but who knows...my contact at veterans bank my be able to pull a few strings. Its still early days though and they are currently meeting about the MArch 27 event. I'll update you guys as i get more news. Anyone's welcome to join...the more the manyier. heheh

Although we'll still meet to plan this, I want to share my idea :
1. If this is a fun walk then :
1.1 around 3 to 5 of us will march at the front with Phil. Flag in the middle as color guards
1.2 The jeeps (kung meron) will be behind us (with enough space for the color guards & jeep to be noticed by the public) moving in slow pacing. I suggest the reenactor be standing at the jeep for people to see the man in uniform
1.3 The fun walkers will be behind the jeep walking
1.4 Or if there are 3 jeeps, the jeeps maybe located per batch (company size) of fun walkers
2. If this is a Fun Run :
2.1 jeeps will move at the side of the runners (to give space for runners) at enough pacing with reenactors riding since reenactors cannot partipipate in the fun run with all those equipment or Type A coat he-he
Maybe we can separate a thread for the Mar 27 fun walk

Hey guys! good news: just got confirmation that general millena will be joining us to honor his father's world war 2 service. Problem is he wants a uniform made and he'll be back by the 19th. Kaya kaya ni Junrey?
That makes around 8 of us!

Junrey the tailor is very busy these days and if the Gen. wants a class made in time then proper fitting will need to be done. Trying to get in touch with Alvin with his jeeps for this event.

Hi guys,
Just an update. The Veterans bank is reverting to a fun run from a fun walk so for now, our role is a military history display at the Army grandstand. They're open for suggestions for other stuff if you guys would like to try something else. We will still be getting a lot of coverage for te morning TV shows so get up to scratch on your history and gear.

kulang sa baril! Unfortunately We cannot even show that the scouts were the first to use the M1 in battle. I guess we just have to use poster displays as the only way to present the weapons of the USAFFE soldiers. Philip

Hey guys,
heres the latest update on the March 27 event :
PVB (veterans bank) will be holding a fun run while PVAO will be holding a fun walk. Both events will culminate at the Army grandstand. We are doing a military history display with both the 1941 and the 44-45 periods represented. We are expected to be there at before 6, all set up and ready to handle visitors and the press. I figure, we should be in place around 530 AM. The fun run only lasts about 10-20 minutes and after that, we should get majority of the coverage from the popular morning TV shows. So far, confirmed attending are:
Albert Labrador: Liberation, M43 and M1 helmet Mon Perry: Philippine Scouts Tad Jojo Dy General Millena: Commonwealth Army uniform (shorts with short sleeves) Selwyn Alojipan Joel sol Cruz (photographer) Otacon 14: Philippine Scouts Phillip : Philippine Scouts Alvin: Willy's Jeep
That's all I've got so far. Anyone wanting to hitch from the GMA 7 area, you're most welcome to hitch a ride with me. I think i'll have space for 2. If you guys have any questions or feedback, please reply or text me so i can course them to the PVB people.

March 27 saw Philippine reenactors from the mid east, singapore and the home country come together for a military history display held in conjunction with a fun run and walk held jointly by PVAO and Philippine Veterans Bank to commemorate the sacrifices of Philippine Veterans in world War 2. We were joined for the first time by Retired Major General Ponciano Millena of the Philippine Marines who honored his father's service in the last war by wearing the Commonwealth Philippine Army uniform.
Assembly took place between 530 and 6am as the reenactors representing the philippine scouts, philippine army, and cavalry gathered gear and set up by the side of the army grandstand at fort bonifacio. General Millena took us around and introduced us to some veterans who offered up their share of stories from the war. One of them (names please guys...HELP!) was present at the liberation of the Los Banos POW camp with the 11th airborne.
Shortly before the run began, Mr. Mike Villa Real of the Philippine Veteran's Bank introduced us to the TV networks present and Perry and Phillip described the various gear, uniforms and units represented. Perry then decided to offer a presentation to the assembled public of the various units and uniforms represented...which entailed marching in front of the assembled crowd at the grand stand. We did a quick run through of the entry and exit (most of us rusty for not having drilled since high school and college) but we managed to wing it.
As the runners gathered at the grand stand, the Philippine Marine Band performed a thirty minute presentation (In the navy???!!!!!) while the reenactors waited at parade rest along the sidelines. Our turn came as the Marine Band exited.
Captain Jojo Dy, passed command to Perry Javier to begin the presentation. We were brought to attention and Perry barked out...LEEEEEFFFT FACE! ( there was a slight delay and some smiles from us as we realized we were supposed to turn right. Don't worry Perry, I don't think the audience heard.) We then turned right and turned column left facing the grand stand. Perry did an amazing totally impromptu presentation of the various uniforms and units after which there was a short martial arts/bolo fighting demo. Perry then again called out LLLLEEEEEFFFT FACE!...(another slight delay and a right face execution from the squad. Don't worry Perry I don't think the crowd heard that one either) and we exited to the applause (appreciation? amusement? - actually i think they quite enjoyed it) from the crowd.
Awards were given out and and a few speeches followed
After the various speeches there were various photo opportunities with the assembled officials and guests after which we headed to the old World War 2 memorial from ayala avenue and did a couple of shots there.
Famished we headed for Robinson's Ermita where a cosplay event organized by Jojo Nicolas and Jojo Dy was being held. We had a recruitment/exhibit stand there where various ladies with pink, green and blue hair expressed their willingness to volunteer with our unit as nurses (perhaps they won't be as excited when they see the drab daisy mae overalls and hats they'll be wearing), I'm sure we'll have some nurses soon - we need to have some ready made uniforms available for them . But it was good to be out there for the public to see as we did get some interested applicants.
Not a bad day considering the gun ban. Many thanks to everyone who made the effort to put this together. It was a great day and many folks who saw us will come away from the events with that little bit more knowledge and appreciation for the sacrifices made by those whom we honor.
General Millena likewise sends his thanks.
Albert
