Darn, look what those developers did to Corregidor, they overdid it. Even the entrance to Malinta tunnel isn't reconstructed to the original. So few pieces of metal and military debris left.
Again, nice pics gentlemen. I think this is reenactment history when I say you are the first party of war reenactors to ever set foot in corregidor.
Possible future venues to go to:
1) Mt. Samat pictorial?
2) Have a historical presentation on the evolution of Philippine military uniforms at the Philippine Military Academy? If this pushes through, make sure you get to have dinner or lunch at the academy mess hall in uniform, along with the cadets.

First and foremost I would like to thank our Fort McKinley Manila PS Living history Company chapter. The scouts who made it to corregidor are:
Jojo Nicolas - Are our Squad Sgt. Denise Nicolas brother of Jojo Alvin Alfonso Perry Javier Ramon Macasinag Dino Montenegro - Corregidor guide and head of Island security
Ernie Penas our "Mydans" photographer.
other resident folks at the Rock are Steve and Marsha Kwiecinski who were super accomodating and gave us a private tour of most of the Lateral Tunnels and two Batteries hidden in the jungle foilage that tourist never will be brought to were manned by the 91 and 92 PS CA, Battery James and three 10 inch disappearing guns at battery Lewis. Thank you Steve and Marsha!!! ;D
More and better photos to come. Once I sort out the best shots. These photos are just Jojo's teaser Pics. cheers for now!

Yes I told the guys this is the 1st in reenactment history to hold it at the rock. This is all in preparations for the April 9 2010 event. ;D Where did you guys suit up? A few like Perry were already dressed even while on the Ferry. So first place was a secluded building to dress up. Perry was hard core dressed all the way from Manila and back in his PS uniform. How long were you there for? Did you stay overnight and catch the next ferry the following day?It was only me , Ernie, Alvin and his wife that stayed overnight since this was our very first time on the rock. And the rest of the guys stayed for just the day since most of them have toured the island already and took the last boat ride back to Manila at 5:30 pm. How did you get around? I made arrangements through the Corrigedor Foundations director Artemio Matibag who offered to provided our group and we hired a private jeep to drive us anywhere on the island for our photo shoot. What were the reactions of the people?Of course they all wanted pics of us "Japanese" as they interpreted us. Sadly lack of history education. We had to avoid them as much as this would eat up our one day photoshoot and location spots already. more details of our trip to follow. Philip

Yes, as Victor would have it, The kind of kwento I'd love to hear is if you all boarded the boat "in uniform" for all the public to see, if you all went to have lunch or dinner at some chic restaurant "in uniform" with notable stares from gawking civilians from passers by, stuff like that. IS THE PHILIPPINES READY FOR AN INVASION BY REENACTORS?

Perry was the only hardcore who was almost dressed when our meeting place before the check in for the boat ride was a nearby Jollibee! And I did not want to wear full clothing just in case of an imergency boat evacuation. And did not want to be one of those who would sink to bottom fullyloaded like in "Saving private Ryan" All of us just wanted to enjoy the boat ride with some San Mig's and relax. They return boat ride to Manila Perry was still in his Kelly helmet and uniform and they were showing "Back to Bataan" on the boat ! Talagang hardcore! ;D It was in the hotel restaurant were we were mostly dressed up after the morning photoshoot were we had a buffet lunch that the public did take notice but were not really sure who we were. Can you believe That's how uneducated about WWII they were. It was really more of the hotel staff who knew who the scouts were. The head of the island security was our tour guide Dino Montenegro and we recruited him into the scouts photoshoot as our BAR gunner and he really enjoyed the whole photoshoot day even showing off to his men his PS set up. IS THE PHILIPPINES READY FOR AN INVASION BY REENACTORS?YES it's about time too. The management though we were there to play airsoft as we had to get clearance for the BAR airsoft first. As i had to explain so many times that the airsoft weapons were for prop use only. I would also like to thank Annabelle Pastrano Operation manager of Suncruise tour who help us on the airsoft rilfes to bring. BTW she mentioned to me that father was PS too! Philip

Hello AB Macabebe.......................................I have the feeling that your last name Macabebe originated from Pampanga. Maybe from the Macabebe itself. First time I ever heard that last name. Let me know if you found somebody with Batangas last name.

Hi Friends;
> Its unfortunate that our airsoft 45 cal. have expired permit to transport docs & the 2 Tommy guns have no registration yet since these are all new & they only allowed airsoft with updated documents were the BAR & 1pc of 45cal. pistol. Anyway its OK because Corregidor is populated by artillerymen who carries very light eqipment & weapon (because their main weapon are the heavy guns he-he) compare to infantry soldiers of Bataan. Firearms were mostly used by Guards on duty & during parade. But artillerymen, they were equipped lightly. Actually we are even heavily equipped & you'll see actual photos of Corregidor in one of the threads here, artillerymen only used to wear sando shirts or cartirdge belts alone.
> Its a great feeling & personal accomplishment that this was the 1ST reenactment event in history in Corregidor. The staff & guards there also told us that this was the 1ST time it happened in Corregidor.
> We felt that this is equivalent to the Normany of Europe since we took photo of the parade grounds were the Airborne dropped to retake Corregidor in 1945. Or Europe's equivalent of the Gun's of Navarrone.
> Some tourist had commented when they saw us that they felt like they are in a time travel seeing soldiers (us) dress in period uniform.
> Some of us felt like some spirit both frolm the USAFFE & the Japanese are staring at us. I made a joke that if you feel like someone is taping your back, its a USAFFE spirit, but if you feel that someone is like chocking or tying your neck & you cannot breath, well that's a Jap spirit he-he-he.
> The time we made is very fruitful, actually we LACK TIME. I have listed many scripts for photo shoot that was not followed because we really ran out of time. The photos I listed are action photos which is harder to make (need proper facial expressions, poses, details..) & required more time. The photos we can make on the limited time are the common ones like the commemorative purpose like position of attention, parade rest, salute & ramdon at ease positions which is faster to direct & perform & the best practical poses for a limited time. Although we made few action poses, but honestly in my personal pt. of view, we can make it better & more authentic if we have more time. Its all because we really lack of time. I cannot go over night because I'll face a real war with my wife he-he-he.
> We are even fortunate that Philip rented a jeep only for us. If we will go with the tour vehicle with the tourist - the tourist asking for questions & photos with us will eat our time. Actually when we see the tourist coming on our place, we say "Ran!!! Let's get out of here, the tourist arfe coming!" he-he-he.
> Its also unfortunate that we have no professional photographer & prof. camera & director / critic (like Labrador who did the shoot in Fort Bonifacio) who is not included in the photo shoot that will make our photos & poses better. Its very hard to direct accurately while you are included in the photo shoot.
> The ambiance is so solemn & sacred & we hope that this place will not be converted into a carnival / Disney land kind of place that they plan to place cable cars, carnival rides, etc... & maybe place Jolibee, Mc Donald, Cartoon Mascots (Oh My God!).
> Its also a very fruitful event, I took some grains of soil & little rocks on every site we went in Corregidor (ex. 4 big mortar guns, Malinta Tunnel, Artillery near the Jap Shrine, etc..) like what you see in the film "Saving Private Ryan". I plan to place the soil of each place in a small bottle & place it on a nice base with the photo of the site on its side. I treat the said soil or rocks sacred as this is part of the historical place. Note, DO NOT attempt to take the wall or a piece of the metal from the cannons as souvenir he-he-he.

Hi Philip;
You noticed be being a hardcore ha-ha-ha.
Friends;
Its hard to be in unifolrm, pero sanay naman ako since nag officer naman tayo nung cadets pa tayo & we used to wear the uniform the whole day. & when I feel discomfort wearing the uniform, I just think soldiers wear it completely for weeks or months getting dirt & mud & even die in uniform, so why can't I wear it for an hour.
I just love wearing the uniform, representing our heroes. Others may find me crazy, silly or weird - but I don't care What I care most is the people who will admire & remember our past heroes & instill in their mind the values & heroism our heroes did & so it may remind them to do their part in their country.
Mabuhay / thanks; Perry

There needs to be more activities such as this on the "rock" instead of amusement park gimmicks, methinks. Yes, I know that the "gimmicks" supposedly might help to bring in operating revenue, but maybe activities such as re-enactments,etc just might be of more help in raising these much needed funds. Just another of my "hairbrained" views.

Dear Perry, Thank you for appreciating my efforts . Considering, i was handling three cameras (one of which was yours) the entire day. I am seriously considering sending copies of this to your wife. ;D Thanks again for nothing.
