Hi Vic,
How was Corregidor spelled in your medal?

It's so small I can't even really read it. I can't find a magnifying glass in the house either... but it looks like it's spelled "Corregidgr I." Typo intended but I can't be sure until I find a magnifying glass.

I bought one of them about 25 years ago -- I'll have to take a look at mine. If you look carefully at veterans of Bataan and Corregidor, they were usually wearing one on their uniforms. A medal, in my opinion, that was EARNED!!

I think most vets recieved just the ribbon only immediately after the war. Unless it was a Philippine wound medal or a Gold Cross (Silver Star equivalent or higher), this was a common case that the medals themselves were rarely issued when it came to Philippine decorations. Some of those would be issued as late as the 1960s.
With U.S. decorations, Filipino vets normally would have gotten the medal, the ribbon, and the (lapel?) pin shortly after the war or during the early 1950s at the latest.

Sir Rudy thank you for replying. Is yours original (from your Father?)
Mine was a replacement (repro?)
It reads : CORREBIOGR I.
I think we have the same spelling Sir Rudy, R can be easily be mistaken as A.
I asked around in the net and from one medal collector and gave me the same spelling. Now I wanted to know is, is there anyone here who owns an original one?
From PSHS- I was told the typo won't be in an original Medal (not in my original medal it was spelled Corregidor answer that I was expecting). But I asked for anyone who owns an Original medal and sadly no response.

Hi Lawrence:
No it is not from my father. My dad served way earlier than the war, 1923. My uncle would be qualified to have one but this is not his. I got this at the flea market, just the medal no case or ribbon. So I myself am not sure if it is original or not.
It is very interesting no ones has shown an original with correct spelling if there is one??
Good luck my man
