Interesting pics. Too bad the island is not being maintained anymore. It would be nice if someone came over to fix it up. Or at least staff the place.

i tend to forget just how close the cavite shoreline was to fort frank until i checkout these excellent photos from time to time. as i believe i said in a post sometime back when i first viewed these pics, those defenders were close enough to "hit the japanese with a beer can". you could certainly say that our guys were in an "exposed position". i dont see how they slept at night knowing just how close the enemy was. excellent stuff you have here.

Karl (Carlos), Nice photos. The "Guard House" is actually the old desalinationt of Fort Frank. When the Japanese cut off the water line from the Calumpan (Patungan) Dam in the mainland, this was activated to supply the island with "fresh water". Here is what it looked like in the early 30's ...and in the late 90s.. Cheers Tony

additional comments from your kodak photo slides:
- the 7-inch siege howitzers never made it to Frank or the Philippines. The structure that you photographed was the magazine intended for the ammo of the 7-inch howitzers which were later used to store the 155mm for Battery Frank North and the 3-inch guns of Battery Hoyle.
- Battery Hoyle had two 3-inch M1915 rapid fire sea coast gun and not AA. One was later sent to Fort Drum to cover the rear side of the "concrete battleship".
FWIW,

I don't think it is, you have to get permission from the Philippine Marines. It's an active marine base.
