Two thumbs way up!! for "The Forgotten Soldiers", and congratulations to Mr. Donald Plata.
Can't wait for the full-length movie. Next year is the 70th anniversary of Bataan day maybe the Manila and U.S. chapters can join together and make a formidable force and win the day for the Defenders of Bataan.
Just thinking that maybe Mr. Plata can consider making a full-length movie where it actually took place, here in the Philippines and be able to stretch the dollar a bit more.
I remember when "Gettysburg" was filmed, where the extras were volunteer reenactors, making the cost of the film less than what it appears to be, and without loosing the excitement and enthusiasm of the volunteers.

Thanks Moroni,
I promise there will be an appropriate venue and time for next year's premiere just before the 70th anniversary of Bataan day. And of course every supporters and reenactors will be invited.
As for the full length narrative movie? I am in the planning stage of that. The documentary is just the prelude for the project. As you can see we are doing this independently. We're going to push our creativity to the limit. We're going to need all volunteer reenactors who would like to participate from the US east coast to the west coast, Hongkong, Japan, and of course where it all happened, our beloved Philippines. I know where to get the tanks, planes, and artilleries.
Sounds ambitious? You bet it is. It will take several years. But we will make it happen.

Congrats to Mr. Plata on "Forgotten Soldiers". I just saw the trailer on the Toronto International Film Festival website. This is a film that NEEDS to be completed. As a grandson of a Philippine Scout, I am now just learning about my grandfather's role in WWII history as a Philippine Scout. This is a story that MUST be told!

Hey Victor~ Thanks for letting me know. If he hasn't already, Mr. Plata should try submitting "Forgotten Soldiers" to the Center for Asian American Media's 2012 San Francisco International Asian American Film Festiva (SFIAAFF)l. They're taking submissions right now until Sept. 30th. In the event that Mr. Plata also peruses this section, here is the link for the CAAM 2012 SFIAAFF: caamedia.org/blog/category/sfiaaff-2012/~Ron

National World War II Museum to Showcase Forgotten SoldiersOn January 18, 2012 the National World War II Museum in New Orleans will show Forgotten Soldiers in the Solomon Victory Theater. At the beginning of World War II General Douglas MacArthur's 80,000 troops on Bataan faced one of the worst atrocities in military history--the Bataan Death March. In this stirring documentary Bataan survivors describe the battles of Bataan, Corregidor, and the Death March itself, over photographs, reenactments and actual footage of the events. The 12,000 Filipino and American soldiers of the Philippine Scouts were the backbone of General MacArthur's doomed forces, but few Americans today are even aware of this unique segment of the United States Army. They are America's FORGOTTEN SOLDIERS. The National World War II Museum, www.nationalww2museum.org, founded by Dr. Steven Ambrose, author of Band of Brothers and numerous other important works on World War II, is America's premier site for relating the experiences of the war that changed the world. The museum honors more than 16 million Americans who took part in that global conflict. Its Solomon Victory Theater regularly shows Beyond All Boundaries, a 35 minute 4-D cinematic experience produced by Tom Hanks and Phil Hettema, and has premiered feature films and documentaries by Ken Burns and other major filmmakers. It was the world premier theater for HBO's The Pacific. Watch for further announcements about Forgotten Soldiers, join us on January 18, and visit us on Facebook. Mabuhay Ang Philippine Scouts!

Hi Donald, you think a detail of PS reenactors at the screening be a helpful "gimmick?" -- Would the crew from MD and VA drive up for that?

The Philippine Scout's documentary narrated by Hollywood actor Lou Diamond Phillips was well received on it's world premier at the National World War II Museum in New Orleans last Wednesday January 18, 2012. The museum was designated by congress to be the official World War II museum in the US. It is the same place where Steven Spielberg's "The Pacific" and Ken Burn's "The War" premiered. Two PBS stations will air "Forgotten Soldiers" this weekend in Louisiana. At the reception lobby.
