Incredible photos Vic, Thanks for posting them.
I like the Cavalry unit in the Fort McKinley field. And I believe that is the Philippine Commonwealth Army Band.

1st LT Harry Julian CA and the 91st PS Corregidor, Feb 1940. Rudy Cabigas sent me these photos provided by Selma Harrison Calmes MD who she met while visiting our Bataan display last Saturday July 7, 2007 at the Old Fort MacArthur days event. Thank you Rudy and Selma! Philip

The bottom one is in the Corregidor in Peace and War book. According to the book, the officer died in one of the Hell Ships.

In the second photo there is a little boy peeking at the left most seated scout. While in the first photo his not there he must have been told to leave. I wonder if there is some background story on that kid there in the photo. Philip

Philip: Thanks for posting those pictures and remembering to mention Selma's. That was her uncle and VeeVee is correct she mentioned he died in one of the Hell ships. I asked her to ask her Aunt if she would donate anything from him to display in the future so his name will be remembered.

I didn't know he served in the navy. He does look like a "kid" in this one Thanks for posting Mish. Yeah... tough old Bogie in his cutie widdle sailor-boy outfit.... About just a week before I posted that pic I knew exactly the following about Bogie: 1) Casablanca 2) 2 quotes: - "Here's lookin' at you, kid" - "This could be the start of a beautiful friendship." 3) I knew I hated his guts for having gotten a chance to kiss Ingrid Bergman. Summarized: Casablanca. That film has always gotten me in some weird thrall. I saw it (alone) about 3 times, both original and "digitally enhanced" (whatever the hell that means) versions. ...turns out the cynical, world-weary Morocco bar-owner served...

I didn't know he served in the navy. He does look like a "kid" in this one Thanks for posting Mish. He got the scar on his upper lip while in the navy. He was escorting a prisoner in handcuffs to the Portsmouth Naval Prison and the guy hit Bogie in the face with his cuffs, in an escape attempt. I heard that Bogie dropped the guy with a single round from his Colt .45 acp.
