Here's a picture of a commemorative plaque listing the names of Filipinos and Filipino-Spanish mestizos who fought in the Spanish Civil War. This plaque was presented pre WW2. (it even has some bullet scars from the time of the 1944 liberation). The plaque is located in Casino Espanol in Manila.
It lists about 80 guys who fought for the nationalist side. There were also Filipinos who fought for the republican/communist side but thier records are even more sketchy.....Anyway I found this old German propaganda newsreel. (Check out 12:20).

A captured Filipino volunteer from the international brigades along with some Frenchmen, Ameicans, Brtish commonwealth guys etc.
The pinoy was saying he was just drinking beer, then some friend came along and asked him how he was, he replied "I'm unemployed", and so he ended up in Spain, ha, ha, ha mga pinoy talaga.
