Has anyone heard of Col. Jesus S. Mercado of the Philippine Constabulary from 1930s to the 1960s? He supposedly witnessed Gen. Pershing orderng the shotting of 9 Moro fighters with bullets dipped in pigs blood and let the 10th one live to tell their tale.
Col. Mercado also supposedly hunted a well known moro chief (the name escapes me for the moment) in the 1930s, cut off the chief's head and roled it in the middle of the plaza square.
He also fought off the ilaga uprising in Mindanao.
He was the father of Gen. Manuel Mercado of the Philippine Airforce and the adopted father of Col. Baghanson who died along with Gen. Bautista during a massacre in the 1970s.
I would appreciate any information regarding the Colonel or corroborating stories to the ones told above.
